Using real time information to plan a journey

Today I had to plan a journey from my home address to Tottenham court road in London.

The services I used were www.theaa.co.uk and www.buytickets.virgintrains.co.uk.

My journey via a car using the AA journey Planner says that if I leave a 12:30pm on the 19th September it will take me 2 hours 9 minutes to travel 98.9 miles to get to Tottenham court road but it does not say how much it would cost to get there as petrol would be a cost of driving.

My journey via a train using the virgin train’s website says that if I leave a 12:35pm on the 19th September it will take me 2 hours 49 minutes with only one change of train at a cost of £30.40 for a single ticket and £57.10 for a first class ticket but it does not say how far I have travelled as this could prove to be a shorter route.

I found The AA site a lot more easier to plan my journey as it asked all the right questions with out there being to much and I was able to input my home address it to the journey planner unlike the Virgin trains site as this proved to be a lot more expensive and frustrating as you had to input the nearest station to find out the time and the site did not have a station locater making finding stations a lot more difficult.
