I use email to check the newsletters of certain games websites I have signed up to, I also use it to send work that I am unable to finish in class home so I can finish it later and I also use it to stay in touch with friends.
I use email mainly at home as I am able to access my email account with no hassle then I am at school and at home I can use my email address as pert of my instant messaging name so that again I can talk to my friends over the internet.
The major benefits of using email is that it allows me to stay in touch with people that live far away or I am unable to meet with, it also lets me arrange things I can do with my friends over or during the weekend. It also a major benefit in that I can get information on recent games that I have heard of over the internet, by doing this I can get the latest information on production and release date of the games.
The disadvantages I have with email is that I do get quite a lot of junk mail which can get pretty annoying, like I keep getting information on apple products yet I have not signed up to there website plus I do not own any of there products which is kind of weird since I believe they would have to get my email from some type of input into there website.
Email makes me more productive when I am able to send work home so that I can finish it and put it on my blog which can be very helpful as I can improve what I have already written without a time limit (kind of). Email makes me less productive when I start to look through my new emails because I begin to go of the work, but since I now the links don’t work at school I still check all the information that is contained in the email which can waste quite a lot of my time.
Email does fulfill its purpose in that it allows people to keep in touch and gain information on their chosen subjects that they would be unable to do without email but the purpose is kind of unfulfilled because of the junk mail that some people receive as this can be very annoying as you have no control over the junk mail. (at least it saves on paper)
