The advantages of paying a supplier such as Apple for a legal music downloads are that they don’t usually contain viruses as they come from a reliable source, which is the Apple Company, it is also a lot cheaper than buying an album from a shop and there is always stock at a downloadable website as some shops run out of merchandise where as a retailer can run out, also you can count on the quality and that it will never break unless the download was interrupted otherwise the file will be fine.
The disadvantages of buying a pirated DVD are that the quality is usually not very good especially when the movies are often set at night making images very hard to see, sometime the DVDs don’t work making it completely worthless and you are unable to take it back as it is fake making the buyer lose money and some discs may contain some viruses which if played on a laptop or computer could effect the whole system.

The disadvantages of using an illicit music downloading site is that it is illegal to use these sites making in a criminal offence meaning that if found out the person downloading from the site can be sent to jail, sometimes people set up sites just to steal private information such as card details form there login they have used of online banking sites and so on this makes these sites a real threat as some of the viruses they send can completely wreck a computer.
Widespread illicit downloading does discourage the funding of new talent as some people may want the lifestyle but if they are unable to get the money the record company said they could get then the people funding the new talent could be dropped quickly as they would not receive the money as people will have downloaded it of the internet costing nothing.
